I got shrapnel in my arse.

Most people have heard in american war movies that someone got shrapnel in their ass or head or any other part of the body. The word shrapnel now more or less means any fragment coming at high velocity from an exploding object, but originally it comes from the invention of Henry Shrapnel, an English military officer. He invented a crude anti personel bomb, a kind of ball of cast iron filled with gunpowder, spreading pieces of cast iron arond it. Very effective, at the battle of Waterloo and very common in WW1.

Henry Shrapnel: 1761 - 1842. High rank officer in the British army. Received a life long yearly pension of 1200 pounds for his contribution...
