Albuminuria, kidneys and piss

Today's featured article is albuminuria. No person today. Kidneys today.

Albuminuria is a condition where you piss out too much protein (albumin to be specific). This is because the kidney failes, obviously. The reason why the kidney might fail (Nephrotic syndrome (nephro, Greek - Kidney)) this way could be:

Diabetes: I was tested for that: don't have it. And albuminuria is a sign of progressed diabetes, especially type 1. I think we can rule it out.
High Blood pressure: I don't have high blood pressure.

Other symptoms of albuminuria is high levels of urea and creatine in the blood, that should have been removed by a healthy kidney. Or kidneys, I know enough anatomy to know I have two. I don't have high levels of urea (4,65 mmol/l whereas normal is 2,5 - 7,5) or high creatinine levels (85,75 umol/l (mikromol that is, or mju:mol) where normal is 71 - 119).

So now I have taken two urine samples at CERN and a 24 hour test, where I have been pissing in a bottle. This is interesting, since I have actually wondered how much I piss, since it's very hard to measure that when you're pissing in the porcelen. And even though I have been curious, I've never gone to the step of actually pissing in bottles, so I was surprised to learn that I was able to piss 0,7 liters in one go! Go me! It all just amounted to 2,5 l in one day though, with a total of 0,23g in 24 hours. This is more than normal, apparently, as it should be less than 0,15g in a person with a healthy liver.

Dr Eric Reymond (CERN):
"Fortunately, it's less than 7g/l, which eliminates some diseases.
Nevertheless, You should make an appointment with a nephrologist to check wether you have, or not, any kidney illness. At the moment, there is no recommandation concerning your food.
best regards.
Dr Reymond"

Bottom line is: Wait and see.
