512 - a magic number

I've been messing around with memory configurations lately, looking for more RAM for my laptop. However, it's expencive for olde Notebooks, and not easy to get second hand stuff either. My attempt to buy a cheap and unspecified chip in Bergen enden up as more mem in my sister's computer, so I was still stuck with 128. Now though, after a luxurious deal, where RAM was traded for a bucket of beer on ice, I have 512 MB ram and everything is smooooth and responsive. I've never had this much mem on any computer, actually! Yay!
