4th of July preparations

4th of July is the United States of America's independence day. The USers celebrate this with burger, beer and banter, and spend 1.8 billion U.S. dollars today on meat, drinks, fireworks and all kinds of ephemeral things. This year, it's rather uneventfully 230 years since they declared independence from the UK.

Here, in Sweden, we celebrate this with John, and we've invited another American John for this occation. And some Swedes. At least one, we'll see about the rest. It's important to remember the other nations too, you know. We're not all "Americans". Even the people in America aren't Americans anymore, their doomed to live in North North America, but they're proud to be Canadian. I pissed off this Canadian girl in Aalborg, by saying she was American. My claim was that the US should be allowed to hog the term, American should be something that you could call anyone from the Americas. But she misunderstood, and thought I meant that Canadians and USers were the same to me, and thus, she was pissed off. Oh well.

But this is the US' independence day. And we're making burgers and cake and salad and all kinds of stuff. I was struggling with some whipped cream, but Hanneke provided some girl power, and the cake is now done!

John making burgers.
Cake! Mmm.
Hanneke is making salad and bruscettas. I think.
