An (Un)Pleasant Misunderstanding
John shows the way in the jungle-web that is out there. He's been advertizing this student project: Movielens at the Universityu of Minnesota where someone's made a system where you rate a bunch of movies from 1 to 5, and based on your data it recommends movies for you, or you can look one up if you're going to the movies. You can even get your buddies on there so you can see if a movie is good for both of you. After wasting quite some time on movielens I've rated a bunch of movies, but I figure it could be a good investment, both in time and money, to avoid the real stinkers. Didn't prevent me from seeing Miami Vice the other day though... To be fair, that was bad judgement from my part. It didn't recommend it.
So the other day I was talking to Ron about this, and he set up his account, and while he was testing this out (it's not 100 % bulletproof) he asked if I really had seen "Hard Candy", which I hadn't but I thought he really recommended that. Turns out now that he hasn't seen it and it was all a misunderstanding.
But since Ron is another guide - to popular and not so popular culture, I acted upon his "recommendation" and "acquired" the movie.

This is one of the movies that I've seen with very little preconceived ideas about what it was about, and it was really stunning. I really never quite knew where this one was gonna take us. It's about a 14 years old girl who chats with this 30-some dude on the internet, and they decide to meet.
She suspects though, that he's a pedophile...
Good plot, good actors, good cinematography, provocative, unpredictable - all in all a wonderful mishap!
Go see!

"The force is strong in this one". Misunderstanding or misdirection? That's the question.
It's not a student project. It's a whole research group.
I research group. But who does the research?
