Hotel room bonanza

So now I'm in a hotel in Oslo. Clean towels, a 7th floor balcony, and breakfasts with an abundance of choices -- all good things, and despite the relative proximity of the walls in my room, it has a few perks:

I can set the room temperature with my remote on the tv, see if I have any messages from the reception, set the alarm in the morning. Cool and geeky, but this digital tv crap renders the tv function basically looking like buggy divx.

An ironing board and iron that I have not yet used.

A hair drier. Haven't used.

Free internet. Have used.

Anyways, it seems I might be residing here at this hotel for a while, and food is an issue. Eating out is nice, but can get somewhat of a hassle. Across the street there's a relatively cheap and decent that I tried out for a veggie burger today. For company I brought my Mao biography, and it turns out they have a huge poster with Mao on the wall, and on top of it all I was wearing my red star t-shirt that I bought in China. Good thing it wasn't a Chinese restaurant. Anyways, since the place is nice and close, I figure I should save it for use when I don't really wanna go outside for food.

Lots of people have been telling me how annoying it is to live in a hotel. So far I've tried to focus on and appreciate the positives, and I think it's going well. But today I encountered my first real hassle: I bought a little microphone for Skype on the computer, and it was wrapped in this really sealed plastic shell which is almost impenetrable and there I was stuck with nothing even remotely sharp or pointy. Is this just the first in a series of nuisances that I'll encounter? Besides Bush on CNN, I mean?
